WTSP-TV and WeatherBug Partner to Deliver Nation’s Only Live, Neighborhood Weather to Tampa Area Viewers

Tampa, FL and Germantown, MD – December 16, 2005 - WeatherBug, the leading provider of live, local weather information services, today announced that Tampa Bay’s 10 (WTSP, CBS affiliate) has signed a three-year partnership agreement. Tampa Bay’s 10 will utilize the WeatherBug Zoom On-Air Display System and the WeatherBug online, desktop, community outreach and mobile program components to deliver exclusive live, neighborhood-level weather conditions and images to the viewers of the Tampa Bay region. Local information will stream to the station from 24 area WeatherBug Tracking Stations and 11 WeatherBug Cameras, including a new installation at the Tampa Bay’s 10 broadcast studio in St. Petersburg.

WeatherBug Tracking Stations are primarily located at local schools, like Lakeside Christian School in Clearwater, Madeira Beach Middle School in St. Petersburg, Pepin Academy in Tampa, as well as and local installations including Seminole Hard Rock Casino and the Temple Terrace Fire Department.

Unlike alternative reports, which are based upon hourly data from local airports, Tampa Bay’s 10’s weather reports will leverage the exclusive network of 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations throughout the U.S., offering viewers the nation’s only live, personal weather information. Tampa Bay’s 10 will be utilizing the all-digital WeatherBug Zoom On-Air Display System to deliver exclusive live local weather conditions and images which are critical during hurricane season. In addition, Tampa Bay’s 10 will also provide content for the WeatherBug desktop application, which is used by approximately 67,000 at-work/at-home viewers in the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota viewing area.

“We are extremely excited about working with WeatherBug to bring even more in-depth and highly-accurate weather coverage to our viewers and web visitors – especially during hurricane season,” said Tampa Bay’s 10 President and General Manager Sam Rosenwasser. “With Tampa Bay’s 10’s Vortex Radar and our new WeatherBug network, we'll be able to give viewers the most in-depth, local weather forecast available anywhere.”

“Tampa Bay’s 10 and WeatherBug see weather as more than local. It’s personal,” said Andy Jedynak, Sr. Vice President and General Manager, WeatherBug. “We’re proud to be partnering with Tampa Bay’s 10 to help residents in the Tampa Bay viewing area to plan their day with confidence. And unlike all other weather reports, which are based upon hourly data from local airports, WeatherBug and Tampa Bay’s 10 offer continuously updated live weather conditions, forecasts and alerts, both on-air and online, from their very own neighborhood. We look forward to enhancing Tampa Bay’s 10 audience reach and content for years to come.”

Since its inception in 1992, WeatherBug has collaborated to help build communities with area schools, local broadcasters, and emergency management agencies (such as the local sheriff’s department, police department and fire department). Live weather conditions provide critical information to these organizations, enabling them to protect property and lives. The innovative, interactive WeatherBug Achieve program and the live WeatherBug data consistently educate and excite teachers, students, local broadcast partners and the community. The WeatherBug Community fosters relationships between local meteorologists, local schools and area viewers, helping families and businesses plan their day with confidence.
